Still wondering if OCD treatment is right for you?

  • The “C” in OCD stands for compulsions. Its really the defining factor between anxiety and OCD. Compulsions (repetitive, uncontrollable behaviors or mental actions that you feel driven to perform in response to intrusive thoughts) are the differencing factor. In our first few sessions, we’ll take the time to conduct a thorough assessment and diagnosis OCD and/or anxiety.

  • We’ve worked with many clients in OCD treatment, like you, have felt discouraged after trying different treatments without seeing improvement. We understand how frustrating and exhausting this journey can be, but with the right approach—especially Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP)—lasting change is possible. You are not alone, and we’re here to help you take meaningful steps toward managing your OCD and regaining control over your life.

If you tried regular talk therapy or anxiety reduction techniques, you likely didn’t see results or, worse yet, these approaches may have exacerbated your OCD. However, ERP therapy is an effective treatment for OCD. Our clients have experienced a decrease in symptoms after trying ERP—studies show that up to 83 percent of people with obsessive- compulsive disorderwho tried ERP therapy have shown improvement.

  • OCD treatment is highly individualized and tailored to each person. The length of treatment depends your unique circumstances. On average, it takes about 12- 20 sessions of ERP to start seeing improvements, but this can vary widely. For some, progress may happen sooner, while for others, it might take longer.

At Resilience Counseling, we’re committed to supporting you every step of the way. We want to ensure your therapy journey is as effective and beneficial as possible. Your path toward healing and resilience is unique and there is so much hope to create lasting change.

  • According to the National Institute of Mental Health, 2.3 percent of adults will experience OCD in their lives. Although that sounds like a just small fraction of the population, it equates to approximately 5.6 million Americans.

  • Exposure and response prevention is the most research, supported and evidence based form of treatment. Because only certain treatments are effective, when we suffer from OCD we commonly assume that therapy won’t work for us. Having tried various therapies to no avail, we end up feeling helpless and frustrated by our condition. Even though “treatment-resistant OCD” doesn’t exist, we’ve concluded that we must have it because nothing we’ve tried has quieted our symptoms.

ERP is highly researched and has been proven to be one of the most effective treatments for OCD. At Resilience Counseling, all of our therapists are extensively trained in exposure and response prevention (ERP) and are equipped to help you navigate the challenges of OCD. With the right support and evidence-based strategies, you can take back control and find lasting relief.

  • If you find yourself stuck in intrusive repetitive thoughts, compulsions, or anxiety-driven behaviors that interfere with your daily life, OCD treatment may be the right step. Many people struggling with OCD feel frustrated, stuck, or exhausted. If past attempts at managing OCD haven’t worked you may even feel hopeless that there can be change.

OCD treatment, particularly exposure and response prevention (ERP), is highly effective in helping individuals break free from the cycle of obsessions and compulsions. If you have tried to stop compulsions but feel unable to do so, or want to regain control and live a more fulfilling life, then OCD treatment could be a great fit for you.

You don’t have to do this alone. With the right tools and support, change is possible. Reach out today to learn more about how OCD treatment can help.
