Parents are such an important part of the treatment process and play a key role in supporting progress. In general, the younger the child, the more involved parents tend to be. Parent involvement is always tailored to the child’s age, needs, and treatment goals.
This may look like sessions with the parent and child together, splitting sessions between parent and child time and individual time with the child or teen, or brief parent check ins at the beginning and or end of sessions. We make a point to regularly connect with parents so they feel informed, supported, and included.
Our goal is for parents to have a clear understanding of what their child or teen is working on in therapy. Clinical assessments and treatment planning are completed with ongoing parent input and collaboration throughout the course of care.
-
The length of treatment depends on each client’s individual goals and needs. Many clients reach their treatment goals and choose to complete therapy in about six months. We often recommend starting with weekly sessions, and as progress is made, sessions are commonly spaced out to biweekly or monthly, based on clinical needs and client preference.

Yes. We offer in person therapy at our San Diego office for clients. In person sessions can be especially helpful for building connection, practicing skills, and working through challenges in real time.
We also offer virtual therapy throughout California. Many clients choose online sessions for flexibility, and both options provide the same thoughtful, evidence based care.
If you are unsure which option is the best fit, our team is happy to help you explore what might work best for your needs.

What is OCD and how does therapy work?
OCD can feel exhausting and all-consuming, affecting many areas of your life. Everyday tasks may start to feel difficult, pulling you into ongoing cycles of anxiety and fear. Intrusive thoughts and compulsive urges can leave you feeling stuck, worn down, and overwhelmed. It can feel as though your mind is always on high alert, making it hard to relax or experience a sense of calm.
OCD therapy offers a supportive and understanding space where you can learn to recognize OCD thoughts and behaviors without letting them control your actions. Treatment focuses on helping you learn skills and respond differently to intrusive thoughts so they have less influence over your daily life.
Together, we work to understand how OCD shows up for you and build practical skills to manage anxiety more effectively. With the right support, many people find themselves feeling more grounded, more confident, and better able to move forward with greater calm and clarity.
